Harper's held a reading at the HousingWorks bookstore. Everything read was from the Magazine, but surprisingly, half their material was not written by the readers -- they are all writers, but several opted not to read their own words. This felt a bit odd, but I don't go to enough readings to know if it really is unusual for such events. One reading was a dialogue from a mommy blog, and another was between a cannibal and his volunteer.

All the selections had some Thanksgiving connection. It was all vaguely or explicitly twisted, and interesting.

Paul Ford, Harper's webmaster, was the MC. We've been corresponding for a while, so it was good to meet him. Several other people knew who I am, which was a pleasant surprise.
