I really like ours. The big question is what content will you watch, and how. Ours is mostly DVDs, which are fairly straightforward to convert to AppleTV MPEGs (you lose navigation, but all video segments are available). We also watch some MPEGs downloaded from the TiVo and convert to MPEGs using tivodecode and VisualHub.

But it means we are still paying for cable & TiVo (on one TV) and Netflix (2 DVDs at a time, since every DVD goes back next day; I delete the rips after watching -- no reason to take up disk space, since Netflix will always send them again if we want to re-watch).

We haven't rented or bought any video from the iTunes Store yet, but we did the math. The second cable hookup and DVR cost about $240/year; if we bought all the shows we're interested in from the iTunes Store, it would be less than that, so it was a safe switch.

I also really like the wireless music functionality -- second AirPort Express is due soon, both ordered after seeing how well it worked on the Apple TV.
